HELENA HEINRIHSONE

PASSING BY

“In my latest solo exhibition, using colour fields and obscure figures of human, I develop the theme of emotional relationships – getting closer to one another, and creating a distance, passing by, meeting, or not at all. Love, indifference, hate”- Helena Heinrihsone.

Helena Heinrihsone is one of the most versatile artists in Latvian art, who works not only in painting, but also in watercolour, lithography, porcelain painting and animation. She has the power to change, to go into the unknown, to discover the new, and to return to the already once discovered. In the exhibition “Passing by”, Helena Heinrihsone has returned to laconic forms and colour symbolism. There is no details, just SHE and HE – the hot against the hot, the warm against the cold, the cold against the cold – red, orange, purple, blue, green, white. It is Helena Heinrihsone’s self-created and clearly perceivable system of characters and signs, where the essence of the storyline is emphasized through the purity of form and colour, which the main base for the emotional and substantive message of the whole painting. (Ilze Zeivate)
In principle, Heinrihsone is an idealist of painting. Her world is ruled by talent, imagination, emotions and contemplation, and a belief that all of it has a place in today’s world. (Vilnis Vejs)

Helena Heinrihsone has graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia (1973).  Her works are in public collections - Latvian National Museum of Art (Riga, Latvia), Museum Ludwig (Köln, Germany), State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia), Zimmerly Art Museum (New Jersey, USA), Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NY, USA).
