From 9 to 12 September 2021, the international POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair 2021, in which Maksla XO Gallery has been participating for the past 12 years, took place in Berlin, Tempelhof Airport. This year the exposition of Maksla XO Gallery was arranged as a room of an art collector, taking inspiration from Ieva Iltnere’s latest painting of the same name “Collector's Room” and “1971. David Bowie”:
“The painting was inspired by the books “New York Interiors” (Taschen) and “Surrounded by Art” (Thames & Hudson). It is exciting to study how artists, gallerists, collectors, photographers arrange their living spaces... My imaginary collector is keen of photography, African art, contemporary painting. He likes Brâncuși, Yoshitomo Nara, Francois Halard, and is David Bowie fan.
On the walls of this room you can see photo by Luis Buñuel “Salvador Dali in Cadaques 1929” as wello as Francois Halard’s photo “Casa Malaparte in Capri””, Ieva Iltnere, 2021.
